About Us

Everyone knows of a student at school who “was really good with their hands but not great with the school work”. At Kiwi Trade Apprentices we believe that for that student to be “Good with their hands” they must have a good brain, as we all know that your brain makes your hands work.

Kiwi Trade Apprentices believe that the challenge is in unlocking this potential.Our company directors, based in Wainuiomata, Wellington, have experienced first-hand both the mentored and non-mentored apprenticeship styles on offer in New Zealand and believe there is a place for both.

HOST BUSINESSES -
WHAT TO EXPECT

We take Care of

  • Loan Tools While On Work Trial.
  • Safety Equipment and H&S Courses, (Working at Heights, First Aid etc.)
  • Wages (PAYE, ACC, Holiday Pay, Sick Pay and Kiwisaver).
  • Training fees- We set up the Apprentices AP’s and manage these.
  • Off Job Enrolments- Correspondence and Practical assessments- Dealing with Training Providers.
  • Any Disciplinary Action that needs to be taken during the apprenticeship.
  • You can “Hand Back” the Apprentice with 3 weeks written notice.

Whats in it For the Apprentice??

  • Higher than Minimum Apprentice Starting wage (NZ Minimum Training Wage is Currently $18.16 per hour).
  • We will Manage their course enrolments and fees- Avoiding costly “Timeouts”
  • Regular Site Visits.

HOW WE CAN HELP YOU

  • We get you started

Kiwi Trade Apprentices recruit, employ, place and mentor the apprentice throughout their journey. Taking care of the Off the Job training, making sure the Apprentice can be the best they can be in the workplace.

  • We make Personal Visits

Your Kiwi Trade Apprentices account manager will visit you every two weeks for the first 3 months of your training and then a minimum of once per month until completion. This provides a solid footprint upon which the longer relationship can be built.

  • We provide Financial Help

Kiwi Trade Apprentices provide you with access to an interest-free tool loan as well as paying you a 0.50c per hour tax-free tool allowance on top of your wages. Kiwi Trade Apprentices also manages all Apprentices interactions with Te-Pukenga etc.

  • Security and Suuport

Kiwi Trade Apprentices assist the host business by taking away the perceived hassle that goes with training an apprentice, allowing you to focus on the on-job training of your new apprentice – allowing you to get them up to speed faster.

  • Kiwi Trade Apprentices will endeavour to find you a new host business to complete your training. You can request a transfer with 3 weeks notice .
  • Your Kiwi Trade Apprentices Account Manager will collect workbooks and paperwork as required, ensuring they are submitted on time.

What Kiwi Trade Apprentices offer?

  • Kiwi Trade Apprentices Manage Payroll (Wages, PAYE, ACC, Holidays , Sick Days etc) , HR Service- We take care of all the ADMIN.
  • Kiwi Trade Apprentices will deal with the off job training providers such as Skills, Weltec etc.
  • Kiwi Trade Apprentices will book them as needed.
  • Kiwi Trade Apprentices take care of PPE and safety equipment for the Trainee*.
  • Kiwi Trade Apprentices do the advertising, testing and Interviewing at $0 Cost to you.
  • Kiwi Trade Apprentices offer a 3 week notice “Hand Back” option as a last resort- we try to maintain continuity with a host but sometimes it simply wont work. You don’t have to feel guilty when Aunty Gertrudes (Sorry Aunty) child doesn’t come up to scratch- Kiwi Trade Apprentices help you sort the issue.
  • We manage trainees payments to cover their training or sort things such as free fees.
